Austin & Limerick became official Sister Cities on 5 December 2024, creating a direct city-to-city relationship covering business, tech, education, tourism, culture & creative industries. Limerick is in Munster, so for an Austin golfer travelling to Adare Manor, the Ryder Cup journey can begin with a genuine connection rather than just a destination. Follow the Limerick connection to Kilkee — a place with a remarkably strong historic relationship with Limerick people. A well worth visit to a lively hotspot, especially in summer during the historic “Kilkee Season”, is a Limerick tradition. They say you meet more Limerick people in Kilkee than you do in Limerick! Today, Kilkee remains a classically loved West Clare seaside destination. From Adare Manor, it is approximately 103 km (64 miles), around a 1 hour 25 minute drive, depending on route and traffic.
For the golfer, play the testing links of Kilkee Golf Club along the Clare coast. This 18-hole coastal course on the Wild Atlantic Way is a genuine West Clare golf experience, with the first & second tees looking out towards the Atlantic Ocean & the third tee overlooking Chimney Bay from a dramatic clifftop position. The course is par 70 and measures approximately 5,555 metres, with the Atlantic wind adding another dimension to the challenge. Kilkee Golf Club is also close to other West Clare golf destinations, with Lahinch Golf Links approx 30 km away.

The Ryder Cup takes place at Adare Manor in County Limerick from September 13–19, 2027, with practice days Tuesday–Thursday and the three competition days Friday–Sunday.
